- About Lavender Dreams -  Alyssa Lemke

A little bit about me...

I want to introduce myself; My name is Alyssa Lemke. I am 22 years old, I have a 2-year-old son. I graduated from Fanshawe College with a diploma in Social Service Work. I have a strong affinity for essential oils. I am passionate about the human body and healthy living/self-care.

Why I started my business...

During maternity leave,  I began crafting my own bath and body products. I started with just lavender products as I grew a garden. It was initially soap made for personal and family use. I was seeking natural products that were gentle on the skin and hydrating. As interest in my products grew, I expanded my range to include, tallow creams, Cold process soaps, lip balms and more.

Objective...

I’ve noticed that many natural products available at local supermarkets still contain harmful ingredients, and shopping at local health food stores can be pricey. I aim to provide natural products at reasonable prices.

Goal...

I do enjoy selling at markets and through my home.  A goal of mine would be to have my own store in the near future. Creating my items just started as a hobby, and now it has grown into something more.

What should you choose from my products?

I take pride in sourcing my tallow locally, ensuring it meets the standards of Ontario. My tallow is only made with three ingredients. I also fill out all the required paperwork to Health Canada for all my products

What is tallow?

Tallow is beef fat! Yes, it's crazy to think about rubbing beef fat all over your skin.

Why tallow?

Tallow is rich in vitamin A, D, E and K. My tallow is from a local farm! I used grass-fed tallow.

Tallow is an anti-inflammatory; it helps combat eczema, dermatitis, rosacea, wrinkles, stretch marks, diaper rashes, sunburns, sensitive skin, and extreme dryness.

Essential oil/fragrance oil

Essential oils

I only use essential oils for my creams. I use trusted Canadian brands like NOW Foods, Aromaforce, NAKA, and Do-Terra. I also have hopes to make my oils! I also use essential oils in my Cold process soaps

Fragrance oils

My fragrance oils are paraben-free and phthalate-free. I use fragrance oils in candles/wax melts, and I use them in cold-processed soap.

Candle waxes/melts

I use a variety of waxes, from pure soy, soy and coconut

Where do I get my supplies?

I obtain many of my supplies from my local health foods store. Candle and soap supplies in London, Ontario, and throughout BC.

What is cold process soap?

Cold process is just oils and lye. No harmful chemicals or harsh ingredients. Completely natural. Cold process soaps are ideal for people who have sensitive skin, want something natural,  and are Environmentally Conscious Individuals

Cold Process soap curing time.

I cure my soaps for 6 weeks before I sell them. I do this so that I know the lye is completely evaporated out.

Caution and Warning

I do recommend a patch test (wait 24 hours)

All (Tallow Creams) come with a BB date (Tallow; lasts up to a year), ingredient list, warning and caution
